Star Wars Stormtroopers conquer Lucerne
Tourists and locals were amazed as they crossed the Kapellbrücke on November 9, 2016: an army of 108 Stormtroopers, known from the STAR WARS films, was guarding Lucerne’s iconic landmark. The 1.20-meter-tall toy figures created an impressive backdrop and quickly captured the attention of many visitors.
Behind this unique action was the Swiss toy importer NIMEX AG. “Last year, the Stormtroopers were placed on the Great Wall of China by toy manufacturer JAKKS PACIFIC. We simply had to bring this idea to Switzerland,” explains Hans Christian von der Crone, owner of NIMEX AG. The images of Stormtroopers on the Great Wall of China went viral, and now, the next galactic invasion was happening in Lucerne. The creatively staged bridge intrigued passersby and encouraged them to take photos. This innovative idea not only showcased Lucerne’s iconic landmark to the world but also created a memorable experience in the city.
The famous Kapellbrücke is a must-see for every visitor to Switzerland and remains one of the most photographed attractions in the country. A behind-the-scenes video captures the setup of the 108 Stormtroopers, carefully positioned on a platform. The video can be viewed here.
